Nora Fok

I made it up to See the Nora Fox Exhibition Last Sunday. I was blown away by her pieces ! I have only ever seem them in books and once in an exhibition in Edinburgh. The detail time and Patience that has gone in to all her pieces are Fantastic . I admire Nora Fok's work she takes non precious materials and makes them into incredible precious items of sculpture and jewellery. Working mainly in Nylon Micofilament Also working with natural materials like  Lunaria annua in the first image and Danelion heads in the 2nd image above.

Cloud Nylon Is on until the 5th June 2011.

Oreal Scala North Wales

Last weekend I was at The Oriel scala http://orielscala.org/ In north Wales. The gallery hosts a wide range of work by local  artists working in different media's that include Glass, photography, Ceramics, painters  and Jewellery.  So I went up to help in the change around of the gallery which changes every six weeks with new work from the co  operatives members also new guest artist work. I was pleased to be asked for my work to be on display also to be given the opportunity to help curate the gallery space.

The images below are wayne clarks wood fired ceramics .He makes sculptured pieces also Domestic wares That Include Tea bowls and Teapots. His work is also on display at the Oriel Scala. I Love the effect the wood fire has on his pieces. Creating earthy neutral tones. http://www.waynewoodfired.co.uk/

Textures from out and about In Glasgow

Rusty New Brooches

These are some test pieces made into brooch's. The piece in the top Photo has been fly pressed to give it the form in the centre . I have then experimented with different chemicals on the metal to produced this greenly blue colour on the surface, when added in layers can produce layers of built up rust effect detail.

Looking forward to testing out more surface colour and texture.
